Internet Links |
These links connect to some
information sources we've found useful in Data Warehousing overall, and in some of the
more detailed areas of architecture and standards. They are just a few of our favorites to
get you started. We are not trying to list every data warehouse related site on the
net, only those sites that represent good jumping off points for exploring data
warehousing on the Internet. If you have an Internet connection on this computer,
you should be able to click on the sites below and connect right in. |
By the time you get this, several of these links will no longer work. Such is
life on the Web. We'll try to keep this list updated on our web site (http:\\www.lifecycle-toolkit.com).

- The Data Warehousing
Information Center
|
This site is a great place to start if you
are looking for links to almost any data warehouse related site. Larry Greenfield
tirelessly maintains this page. You wonder how he finds time to work! |
- CIO Magazine's Data Warehousing
Resource Center
|
A decent starting point as well. Fewer
links, but a bit more information about each one. |
- Data Warehousing on the World Wide Web
|
- This is www.datawarehousing.com --
a site of mysterious origin. They maintain a list server on data warehousing.
This is an e-mail-based discussion list, which is a good place to observe
discussions and ask questions.

Data
Management Review Magazine |
This magazine is dedicated to data
warehousing with lots of data warehouse specific articles, product reviews and the
like. |
Intelligent
Enterprise Magazine |
This magazine is the combination of what
was DBMS Magazine and Database Programming and Design. The archives of Ralph's monthly column from DBMS
Magazine are still available in a single list, but you may need to look around a bit for
more recent articles from Intelligent Enterprise. |
- Comp.databases.olap
|
- This is a Usenet news group dedicated to OLAP issues (including data warehousing
issues). We advise watching the dialog for a little while before you actually submit a
question. You need a Usenet news service to access this.

Zachman framework info

- A site for the Zachman Institute for Framework Advancement (ZIFA) recently
appeared on the net. Other companies who use the framework also have information. In
addition, there is a recent book about the Zachman framework and data warehousing.

- The Data Warehousing Institute
|
- They have a lot of valuable materials, but some of it is available to members
only.
|
- The Ken Orr Institute
|
- This points to a basic overview paper with some interesting basic architecture

Metadata
- Meta Data Coalition: for meta
data interchange
|
- The Meta Data Coalition (formerly the Metadata Coalition) was formed by the
META Group and several major vendors to try and solve the growing problem of multiple,
incompatible metadata repositories. They got a first pass exchange standard out, but
support has been less than universal.

They've heard about data warehousing and they're
