As with greyscale images, texture effects may
be described as local correlations between pixel
values. Various models of this kind of phenomenon
have been studied, including the theory of
markov Fields. The work of Geman and Geman is
notable in this regard: these are two people,
not
clones. See the bibliography for more details;
I shall have a little more to say on this topic
later but it represents a degree of technicality
inappropriate for the present book.
